3D: City X
Our Technology program was fortunate to receive a grant from the Eaton Rapids Education Foundation for a 3D printer. This year I decided to pilot this program with one classrooms utilizing the 3d printer. Utilizing an existing course CityX we incorporated it into Google Classroom as part of our pilot.
Students start out signing up for the Google Class. Once in the class they select a citizen from CityX. Each citizen has a problem concerning one of the 8 areas of transportation, environment, communication, food, energy, education, safety, and health. Students spend time brainstorming ideas for how they can solve their citizens problem on this new planet. The one catch is that it can not be something that is already created here on Earth! Students utilize Google Drawing, and TinkerCad to design their creations. Once their design is completed students submit their final design with a write up of what their creation will do for the citizens of CityX. A teacher panel voted for the top three creations per-pilot group to be printed. |
