Team Building Activties
Activities that we learned during Arts Integration training helped us promote communication, expression, and and listening skills. They also helped the students become more aware of themselves and each other. We used them as brain breaks (time to help the students refocus on tasks. Some examples of these are Pass the Clap, Energy Pass, Sword, Hey/Whoa, and 20.
Tableau with Vocabulary
In Science, the students used tableau to act out vocabulary words they were learning. The students watched the tableaus and tried to match them to the definitions of their vocabulary words in their science notebooks.
Using Meaningful Movements and SongsIn Social Studies, the students used various songs on Flocabulary and YouTube that tied to our curriculum. As we sang the songs, the students created movements to go with the song to help them remember the content of the song.
The students had a few favorites. While learning the 5 Themes of Geography, the students sang along with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIqC79WrpKg&t=3s and created movements to help them remember each of the themes. The picture in the upper right shows the students showing that "location tells you where it is." The students also made movements to help them remember the location of the continents, oceans, and hemispheres. The students in the bottom left are marking the equator. Another song the students loved was "Colonial America" in Flocabulary. The kids loved rapping along! |
