Greyhound Intermediate
Arts Integration Focus School
Welcome to Greyhound Intermediate “Arts Integration Focus School” 2016-'17, Eaton Rapids, Michigan
"Arts integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects to an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both."
(-Kennedy Center Partners in Education, Arts Integration Summer Institute)
Greyhound Intermediate students have once again had the opportunity to be part of the Arts Integrated Focus Schools initiative through the collaboration of the MSU Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts and Creativity at the Wharton Center, The Kennedy Center, and the Ingham Intermediate School District. This is our second year in the Arts Integration Focus School consortium, and ERPS' 5th year involved with arts integration programming through MSU's Wharton Center.
Our team includes teachers from grades 3rd - 5th. We have attended programming and professional development offered through the Ingham ISD and the Wharton Center in East Lansing since the Summer Institute, August 2012. Teachers are collaborating and implementing arts integrated curriculum across content areas including English Language Arts, Visual Art, Social Studies, Science, and Technology.
We wish to thank our PTO members for the continued support of students and teachers and the arts integration work we do. We also thank the Eaton Rapids Public Schools Education Foundation for grants to help fund our projects.
